To forgive or not - Is it an option?
Jesus said "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop" Mark 11:25 (Amplified Bible)
This is a KEY to having your doors open. Unforgiveness on the other hand is like silent poison that continually kills the one that is refusing to exercise this principal.
Friend, Jesus said, if we have anything against anyone, we need to ask reconcile by releasing one another without which Our Father in heaven will not do the same unto us. It is vital to note that in the Lord's Prayer this key is to be exercised to those that are tresspassing against us.
A Forgiving God
The nature of God is that HE is a forgiving God.
"If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action]."
1 John 1:9 (Amplified Bible)
Psalm 103
"Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;"
Jesus showed us how to do it while on the cross
Then said Jesus, "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.." And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. Luke 23:34
(King James Version)
Stephen did it to those who stonned him.
"And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep." Acts 7: 58 - 60.
Saul, one of those whom Stephen forgave was Saul who later became Paul the writer of much of the New Testament. You never know what God has in store for that dear one that you are holding in your heart. Friend, obey!.
Joseph did it to his brothers.
"And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." Genesis 50:20
Friend, note that there is no option but to obey the command of God.
